LoopConf Recap

By tessa on February 12, 2017

I was lucky enough to be able to attend LoopConf in Salt Lake City this year. It was one of the most organized conferences I have ever been to. The speakers were knowledgeable and from all areas of expertise. Not only were there lots of great dev talks but there were also quite a few more personal discussions that really hit home with me, especially Create the Community You Crave by Andrew Norcross.

The swag bags were awesome – t-shirt, baseball cap, sponsor swag and all in a nice drawstring tote. Food options were great and there was always snacks and drinks. Major kudos to the organizers of this conference!

A few other sessions that I really enjoyed included Put an S on it: Moving from HTTP to HTTPS by Zack Tollman. It was great information with a light humor behind it. Very enjoyable and great session to get the day started.

Empathetic Communication by Sharon Steed was very inspiring and definitely deserves a watch. It really proves that anyone can do anything they put their mind to, even something that seems impossible or difficult.

Another great dev topic was A Conscious Uncoupling: WordPress as a Headless CMS by Krissie VandeNoord. It was really neat to hear how to use WordPress to manage content only and use React.js to build out your website instead.

The keynote, Why WordPress by Josh Koenig was a really talk about the health of WordPress and the internet as a whole.

I highly recommend this conference in the future, especially if they continue to do such a great job. If you weren’t able to make it, you can watch most of the sessions on YouTube! There are also some great photography shots here.
